Building Your First Dataset

Learn how to go from search results to a curated dataset ready for metadata review and ordering.

Getting Started

From Search to Dataset

Once you’ve run a search and found relevant imaging studies, the next step is assembling them into a dataset. Datasets are how you organize, review, and ultimately order data on Openda.

1. Adding studies: After reviewing search results, select the studies you want and click Add to Dataset. You can add studies from multiple searches over time.

2. Reviewing your dataset: Navigate to Projects to see everything you’ve saved. Review individual reports, remove studies that don’t fit, and get a count of total exams.

3. Requesting metadata: Submit a metadata request. Our team gathers detailed metadata and representative image samples. This typically takes approximately 14 business days.

4. Reviewing metadata and samples: We’ll notify you by email when ready. Review carefully and mark which studies you want in your final order. If a DICOM header is not present in the default columns, go to Manage Columns and add the DICOM header that is important for your review and selection.

5. Placing your order: Click Place Final DICOM Order. We’ll send the licensing agreement, and full DICOM files will be available within 2 business days of contract execution.
